John Jay romps — Playing in the Blue Chip Challenge in Binghamton, John Jay posted a 16-0 victory over Immaculate Conception in six innings, and a 20-1 victory over Baldwinsville in five innings.

In the opening win, Amanda Gisonni (5-0) struck out four and allowed just four hits.

She received more than enough support from her lineup, including a pair of home runs by Andrea Varvara and one by Tateum Valentine. Varvara went 4 for 4 with three runs scored. Valentine and Nadia Kemp each went 3 for 5 with three runs, and Gabby Bracchi scored twice on two hits. Meghan Theiller tripled and Nicole DeCosta doubled.

In the second game, Vicky Lattanzio (4-0) struck out four and allowed five hits.

Theiller cranked a solo home run as part of a five-run first inning, and hit a three-run double in the second inning. She ended with two doubles and three runs scored. Valentine also doubled twice. Gisonni went 3 for 4 with three runs and an RBI, and Bracchi scored twice and drove in one on two hits.

John Jay (9-0) will finish play in Binghamton today with a game against Cicero-North Syracuse — a rematch of last season’s Class AA state championship game won by the Patriots — and a matchup with Maine-Endwell.
